Overview   •   Submit File   •   Documentation [New Window]

FreeSVG is provided by Texterity to encourage the use of SVG* (Scalable Vector Graphics) on the web and enable free, highly functional conversion of PDF documents into fully accessible and navigable SVG. FreeSVG provides many useful features, including:

  • Full representations of all PDF pages as SVG, viewable with SVG Viewers such as the Adobe SVG Viewer 3.0. The SVG pages include any intra-document or external web links, as well as a faithful representation of images, vector drawing, and text. SVG is an "XML" representation of your pages, and can therefore be modified and/or viewed in a text editor.
  • Navigation of the document via a left-hand side table of contents, or with full text searching. Search results are displayed with a 'histogram' bar of hits, and a rollover shows the context (paragraph) of the search result. Search words are highlighted using the SVG DOM, if supported by the browser.
  • Navigation of the document with a toolbar providing first, last, next, and previous page buttons.
  • "Zoom" support including preset zoom factors and 'fit width' and 'fit height' display.
  • Extraction of fonts and images into SVG-standard representations. Image sizes are reduced to screen appropriate resolution.

After you submit your PDF file, FreeSVG will return a link to an SVG Package. The result includes SVG pages created with TextCafe’s PDF to SVG conversion technology, HTML, and JavaScript representations of the Table of Contents and search word list. You are encouraged to modify and post results to your web site. For detailed information on using the free service, see the full documentation.

SVG technology is now integrated directly into the Published Web Format (PWF) solution, which means that customers using Texterity's PWF conversion services can choose to convert printed matter, including books, magazines, catalogs, and corporate documents into an instantly accessible document viewable with a web browser. No plug-ins or applications required!

NOTE: To submit files for a free 20-page conversion into Published Web Format (PWF) contact us via our Information Request form.
