Marketing Associate

You will assist the Marketing Director in supporting sales, product and corporate initiatives. This is a hands-on, "can do” job and you will be the go-to person in a fast-paced environment. You should be able to work independently or as part of a team. This job requires a sound understanding of communication, marketing, and production practices; comfort level in a tech culture; facility across diverse media channels; solid people skills; and appreciation for the publishing industry. Ideal candidate will be a quick study, self-motivated, even-tempered with a creative mind, business head, and sense of humor.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Help produce ads, content, collateral and presentations by generating materials or serving as liaison between internal customers and creative providers
  • Help prepare elements for trade shows and events; interact with show coordinators and vendors
  • Handle aspects of PR outreach and follow-up – with media and potential partners
  • Help create processes and infrastructure to promote department efficiencies
  • Provide ongoing updates for newsletters, data sheets, web pages, boilerplates

Required Skills:

  • Strong writing skills a must – for print and web: sales copy, editorial, pr, ghost writing
  • Word, Powerpoint, Excel
  • Ability to research information, spot promotional trends and pursue opportunities
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and adhere to event and production schedules
  • Ability to work across department lines, anticipate needs, deliver on time/on budget

Desired Skills:

  • Basic design skills using Quark or In Design, Photoshop helpful
  • Familiarity with HTML, AV/e-letter software, direct response, statistical data a plus
  • Education/experience in media, marcom, pr, publishing, circulation, advertising preferred
  • At home among web resources, social media and blogging networks an advantage

Director of Account Management

As the Director of Account Management, you will manage a team of Account Managers and provide superior customer service and support to a base of magazine publishing clients including developing and executing account plans for customers. The job includes managing service issues, customer relationships, managing revenue and service renewals, and monitoring the consistency of services and offering solutions that enhance the customer's programs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Managing a growing account management team on a daily basis to ensure Texterity is providing superior, and pro-active, customer service to all existing customers
  • Act as the key liason between the account management function and operations.
  • Pre-Sales Support: Assist sales representatives as subject matter expert by providing knowledge of services and standards to customers. Ensure contract compliance for prospective customers. Coordinate and follow up on all pre-sales actions for the team.
  • Post-Sales Support: Meet via phone or face-to-face with customers on a scheduled basis, and develop and manage strong relationships within each customer’s department and with upper management levels. Coordinate on all issues between the customer and operations team, and provide "end to end” service to ensure that the client is satisfied.
  • Revenue Management and Retention: Proactively manage client renewals and obtain advanced preparedness for renewals. Help evaluate the profitability of customer deals as required, based on revenue opportunity and cost to support.

Qualifications:

  • BS / BA or equivalent work experience required
  • 3 years + of manager level or higher field sales or account management experience.
  • 4 years + experience in a "customer-facing” service-oriented position emphasizing a service or leadership role
  • Experience with relationship management, including management-level interactions with customers

Required Skills:

  • Strong Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel) skills
  • Strong CRM (salesforce.com) data maintenance and reporting skills
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and spoken) in a customer-facing role

General Skills:

  • An ability to work within a consultative sales process and a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with Excel and CRM systems such as salesforce.com
  • Self sufficient with computers and managing workload as a mobile user
  • Knowledge of the magazine publishing industry in a circulation, production, or sales capacity is a plus

Project Manager

Texterity is looking for a Project Manager to manage multiple projects. This role demands a person who is customer service oriented, highly organized, analytical and committed to delivering quality products on tight schedules.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage client relationships by serving as customers’ primary contact to establish schedules, gather feedback, resolve issues, etc.
  • Oversee the digital issue creation process, including scheduling, tracking and delivery of issues to clients and subscribers
  • Interact with internal production teams to ensure work is completed on time
  • Coordinate the review and incorporation of client feedback of our sites
  • Understand and clearly articulate our products capabilities; identify opportunities for increased use of Texterity products and services [This work would be done in cooperation with our Best Practices Team.]
  • Ensure that project issues and status are communicated with team members and appropriate levels of management
  • Generate invoices and provide revenue forecasting information to the Sales Team

Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Occasional implementation of small customizations of client sites
  • Configuring HTML, XML and graphic files for setup of online publications using custom-built technology
  • Sporadic print production work, preparing PDF files, QA of magazine websites

Senior Software Developer - Java & Web Technologies

Texterity seeks an experienced Java and web developer to build innovative web applications. The Products Group is responsible for a web reader application, comprised of template-driven web interfaces and middleware, driven by back-end systems serving the magazine content, and performing usage tracking and content security. We are looking for individuals who will contribute to our roadmap by dreaming up new ways of doing things and driving to make those real.

Minimum requirements:

  • 3+ years of Java Web development (Tomcat/Struts/JSP/Tiles are a plus)
  • Fundamental knowledge of web application architecture, database design (MySQL), JavaScript, HTML
  • Knowledge of Perl or comparable scripting language
  • Knowledge of DHTML, XML, CSS, DOMs, Schemas, and parsers
  • Strong knowledge of UNIX or Linux
  • Ability to work with a team in a collaborative environment
  • Good written and verbal communications
  • BS and 4+ years of experience in software engineering

The Publishing Technology team is responsible for the back office server farm and workflow development, including software written in several languages and running on multiple architectures. The team also develops tools for our Operations group to manage the digital publishing process, from receipt of files from publishers to emailing and tracking subscriptions. We are looking for individuals who will contribute to our roadmap by dreaming up new ways of doing things and driving to make those real.

Minimum requirements:

  • 2+ years of Java development (JDBC and JAXP are a plus)
  • Fundamental knowledge of web application architecture, database design (MySQL), web servers (Apache), JavaScript, HTML
  • Knowledge of DHTML, XML, CSS, DOMs, Schemas, and parsers

Web Design Developer

Texterity seeks an experienced HTML/Javascript designer to create innovative web applications and extend visual design templates. The Products Group is responsible for a digital edition web reader, a portal for browsing and searching across many magazines, and a lead generation product which gives easy and intuitive access to valued technical content. We need an engineer who can take ownership of the look, feel, and usability of these applications. A strong candidate will have great design sensibility, excellent web development skills, and will sweat the small stuff when it comes to getting a web interface just right. He/she will drive innovative use of new techniques across our suite of products. A candidate with experience working on enterprise-level web and e-commerce applications would be the strongest fit.

Minimum requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of HTML/DHTML/Javascript, and CSS.

Systems Engineer / Systems Administrator

Texterity is looking for a Systems Engineer / Systems Administrator willing to learn the ropes of maintaining and deploying our highly available, industry-leading applications. This is an opportunity to join a successful small company in a rapid growth mode. Primary responsibilities will be Help Desk for our Operations, Sales, Marketing, and Finance/HR staff. You will be learning and working on critical, high-visibility systems and the results of your work are directly felt by our customers. Job duties will also include being a member of a 24 hour on-call rotation to respond to customer needs and inevitable system failures.

The person we have in mind might match this profile:

  • 1-3 years of Systems Administration experience (university help desk counts)
  • Expertise in Linux, Windows, Mac platforms
  • Experience using and configuring Apache, JBOSS, Tomcat or other web/application servers
  • Strong SQL/database skills (we use MySQL)
  • Familiarity with Perl, Java, shell scripting a plus
